DBR Intensives
I offer different options for therapy: ongoing therapy, EMDR intensives and DBR intensives. If needed, I can help you decide which style of therapy is the best fit for you. Please use these links for information about ongoing therapy and EMDR intensives or keep reading on this page for information about DBR intensives.
What is a DBR intensive?
A DBR intensive allows you to try Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and get the benefits of this unique type of therapy even if you already have a therapist that you like or are already doing another type of therapy that you want to continue. We’ll meet just for nine 90-minute sessions, which includes an intake and eight DBR sessions.
At the intake I’ll explain more about DBR, and we’ll practice some of the techniques. I’ll also ask you some questions and conduct some assessments. This gives me additional information that helps me to determine if this type of short-term, adjunctive therapy is appropriate for you and, if it is, helps me to best support you during the DBR sessions. If we decide to move forward after the intake, we’ll then schedule all eight sessions.
You and your regular therapist can discuss whether to take a short break or whether you should continue seeing them while you meet with me. I recommend continuing to meet with them if you can. Since we will only be doing DBR, which is not primarily talk-based, you may want to have the time with them to discuss things that are happening in your day-to-day life. I can also communicate with your primary therapist as needed.
Some clients might later sign up for another eight sessions or do ongoing DBR therapy with me. Various factors would go into deciding whether or not to do this, including your interest, both of our availability and whether or not it is clinically appropriate for you to continue with DBR and/or with adjunctive therapy.
Session Length & Frequency
I typically meet with DBR intensive clients for 90 minutes about twice a month. The two sessions might be two weeks in a row or might have a week or two in between them, depending on both of our availability. The whole intensive will therefore take about four to five months.
Current Fees
My current fee for the 90-minute intake session is $315. The cost for the eight-session intensive is $2,520, and payment is required in advance to hold your dates.
Cancellation Policy
For the intake session, you must provide at least 48 hours' notice to avoid being charged. When we schedule the eight sessions of the intensive, you will sign an agreement that includes the cancellation policy for those sessions. Please read this carefully.
